Safe – Morning, Day, and Night

Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

(Lamentation 3:22-23)

LORD Jesus we praise You for You offer us the Hiding Place, the secret place of the Most High, where we will find Refuge and Strength. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we doubt Your great Faithfulness. Your Compassions fail not, hallelujah, they are new every single morning. Help us to press on when times are tough and enable us to believe when doubt enters our mind and heart. Keep us tightly tucked into Your great and amazing Love and Goodness. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

In God we boast all day long,
And praise Your name forever. Selah

(Psalm 44:8)

Why is it so hard to boast in God, and boast in Him all day long? How come we spend so less time to praise His name — forever?

I mean, how many times do our mornings just fly by and we rush off into a new day thinking of all the things that need to get done and that we can and must handle it all on our own? Then, once the evening has come, we realize that another 24 hours have just passed by, and we have not given much of our love back to the Lord our GOD.

Come bedtime, do we recall God’s promise to us?

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;
For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

(Psalm 4:8)

Today, this morning, did we give any thought at all or thanks to God for enabling us to lie down in peace, for refreshing sleep, for keeping and watching over us throughout the night? We should never take this for granted, but we need to praise Him that we are not consumed and that His compassions fail not — even during the nights and the dark hours of the days.

Remember God’s great Faithfulness in your life today.

Peace, Be Still!

You rule the raging of the sea;
When its waves rise,
You still them.

(Psalm 89:9)

LORD Jesus we praise You for You are above all of our storms in life. You are One who rules — Hallelujah! Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we doubt the power of Your Word. Open our eyes and help us to look beyond the raging of the sea and to the One who is able to still all of its waves. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

Monday, I had just finished the blog post, we decided to shut down our house hunt for the next two weeks and just concentrate on more important things. Guess what arrived by text and pictures that same day? Yes, you are right: we received another offer of a possible home. And what did we do? You are right again: We forgot all about our plans of shutting down our house hunt and immediately dive into the whole circle again…

I can hardly describe the agony and pain that followed with it, but, praising the LORD, it ended without any further hurt.

Beside being still, knowing and trusting God to provide, and moving into the home He decides that we should move into, there was another careful lesson to learn for us. What we have learned so far on our roller coaster ride of house hunting has added to our spiritual growth; but this time the lecture has been more painfully. Ouch! More about that in next week’s blog posts.

Then He arose and rebuked the wind,
and said to the sea,
“Peace, be still!”
And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

(Mark 4:39)

When the waves are rising way above your head, know that God is able to still your storm of life today.

No One But God

Among the gods there is none like You, O Lord;
Nor are there any works like Your works.

(Psalm 86:8)

LORD Jesus, we praise You for You are the Lord GOD, the Most High, Creator of heaven and earth and everything in it. You are the God who is full of compassion and gracious and longsuffering and plenteous in mercy and truth. Hallelujah! Forgive us, O LORD we pray, whenever we turn the other way or whenever we think we have to take matters into our own hands. Enable us to see Your mighty Work, Your Guidance, and Your Protection in our life. Be our Strength and our Help so that they which do not believe may see it and be ashamed. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

What has gotten a hold of your thoughts lately? What is it that you are thinking of, and thinking of a lot these days? What occupies your mind and does not let you go — during the daytime and perhaps even while it is night? What is it that you are trying to fix or speed up to lend God a helping hand?

For the last couple of weeks I have been worried about finding a new home. The house hunt felt like a roller coaster ride: going up with each possible move, speeding down whenever things did not work out. Continuously, the rent ended up being way too high, or the house being exceptionally filthy, or, as it happened to be in the last case, it was not possible to get connected to the internet — not ideal, especially in an age when you have to work from home.

You know, sometimes we can get so distracted by unforeseen circumstances; and we can get so involved in bending over backwards to make things “work” (the way we think they ought to be working) that we lose focus on the fact that —

There is none like the Lord GOD,
nor are there any works like His Works!

Stop, look up, and believe that God IS working in your life today.
