One generation shall praise Your works to another,
And shall declare Your mighty acts.
(Psalm 145:4)
LORD Jesus, we praise You, for You alone are worthy to be praised. You are great and greatly to be praised. Hallelujah! Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we neglect to come before You in prayer and in praise. Help us, precious Holy Spirit, and open our eyes to see God’s mighty acts. Let us discover the glorious splendor of Your majesty and Your wondrous works. Enable us to diligently study Your Word and to boldly speak of You to declare what You have done for us. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
In Deuteronomy 6:4-9 we are told to love the LORD, to have His words in our heart, and to teach God’s Word to the next generation/s. Verse 7 says that we, shall talk of the God’s words when we sit in our house, when we walk by our way, when we lie down, and when we rise up. In short, we are to speak of God’s Word everywhere and all the time.
One Generation to Another
Notice that today’s verse speaks of generations who are praising God’s works. This includes all people no matter how young or how old.
Talk About What God Has Done
Tell others how God has created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. Speak to the people about the uncountable promises that are found in the Bible. Share your personal testimony.
Speak of Him and Praise Him!
Praising God while speaking of Him is SO powerful! Listen to what C.H. Spurgeon wrote about it,
The praise of the Lord enlarges the heart, and as it grows upon us our minds grow with it. God’s works of goodness and acts of power make up a subject which all the eras of human story can never exhaust. A praiseful heart seems to live in all the centuries in delightful companionship with all the good. We are not afraid that the incense will ever cease to burn upon the altars of Jehovah: the priests die, but the adoration lives on. All glory be unto him who remains the same Lord throughout all generations.
Praise the One who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light today.
