The One Who Leads

It is better to trust in the LORD
Than to put confidence in man.

(Psalm 118:8)

LORD Jesus, we praise You, for You are the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Forgive us, O God, we pray, whenever we seek to go our own way. Help us to see where we are going wrong. Open our eyes at the crossroad, and enable us to choose Your Way, to believe the Truth, and to seek Life. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

Led By Man

We drove on a wide road, headed for church, until stopped.

“There has been a very bad accident ahead. Make a left turn, please, and follow that car. It will lead you to an intersection where you can make a right turn. After turning right, you will be back on the major road again.”

We made the turn, drove on a very narrow lane, and followed the car that was ahead of us. After a few hundred meters, oncoming traffic blocked more than half of the lane.

“Rien ne va plus!” (No more bets, no more moves)

Both ways, the cars were stuck. On the left a garden wall or rough hedges, on the right not enough room to pass the car/s in the oncoming traffic.

There was a lot of movement going on, but only by foot. Some of the drivers got out of their cars and walked toward the major road. We saw a few talking on their phones and waving their hands like crazy. I guess they were trying to communicate with the ones on the major road that were diverting the traffic. At both ends of the accident, the men at the road diverted the traffic into the narrow lane. This ended into cars driving on that tiny road from both sides until they met at some point. And then,

“Rien ne va plus.”

— No more moves were possible.

Finally, inch by inch, we were able to pass the garden walls, hedges, and the other cars of the oncoming traffic. The road was clear again. What a relief! Too late to make it on time for the worship service, so we headed home.

I should have know better. The best option at the road closure would have been to make a 180 degree turn. Then, we could have taken another familiar route to get to church that morning.

Trust in the LORD, and let Him lead you today.
