Abundantly Blessed

Not that I speak in regard to need,
for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.

(Philippians 4:11)

LORD Jesus, we praise You for the abundance of blessings that we get to enjoy on a daily basis. Forgive us, O God we pray, for our failure to be grateful and content with what we have. Help us to see that You are the One who gives so freely, and You are the One who takes away so freely as well. You own it all, precious LORD. Guide us to use that which You have given to us to honour and bring glory to You alone. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

What a tremendous blessing. As I was approaching the beach today, I could not believe how blessed we are.

We so often forget that we are abundantly, don’t we? I find it especially true whenever we are too close to the blessings, and therefore we can not see them anymore. And, having the provided blessings in our lives, we want, ask, even demand to have more of them or additional things as well. There are always some things that we seem to be missing, aren’t there?

Desensitised. While sitting in my car, writing today’s blog post, I was having this picture in front of me:

For real! I told myself, “I can’t believe it!”

I love, Love, LOVE to be so close to the Ocean, well the Irish Sea. It reminds me a lot of my childhood when we used to go to Igea Marina, Bellaria, Italy during the summer holidays. We went there every year, just for a week, but we went there every year. It has always been such a blessing for me to spend one whole week at the Ocean. And, you know what? Somehow, I can still sense what the air “smelled” like back then.

I missed going on vacation, spending time at the beach, for so long. No, I’m not interested in going for a swim, and I do not care if the temperature is not above 20 Celsius. I’m not that kind of a beach person. I just want to be there, near the water, being still, watching and listening to the waves coming ashore. It is such a blessing for me.

Now that we are living so close to the Irish Sea (again), we are having access to a couple of beaches which, except for a few interruptions, add up to nearly 55km of coastline to use for walking.

Today, as I was driving down the hill toward the local beach, I realised how desensitised I had become, accepting this kind of blessing as the “normal” case.

Is there anything, a relationship with a person, the place you are spending your time at or the home you are living in, or anything else that you have become desensitised to? Appreciate them now. Now is the time, dear one, to be grateful for what you have been blessed with. Don’t wait until you no longer enjoy them.
