The Power We Do Have

The wise woman builds her house,
But the foolish pulls it down with her hands.

Proverbs 14:1

LORD Jesus we praise You for Your Word is perfect. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever our delight and meditation is in all sorts of other things but in Your Law. Help us to study and to meditate in Your Word, O LORD, and enable us to love You more with each day and to keep Your Commandments. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

The wise woman builds her house, and what does the foundation of her home look like? Who or what does she build upon?

Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine,
and does them,
I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:
and the rain descended,
the floods came,
and the winds blew and beat on that house;
and it did not fall,
for it was founded on the rock.

Matthew 7:24-25

The wise woman will build her house upon the Rock which will lead her to the fear of the LORD (Proverbs 31:30). She puts her trust in the Word and obeys what her God calls her to do.

Contrary to the wise woman, the worldly woman will build her house on sand. Yes, she is even foolish enough to speed up the process of breaking it down. She does not want to listen to the wisdom of the Word. Instead, she wants things done in her own way.

But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine,
and does not do them,
will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand:
and the rain descended,
the floods came,
and the winds blew and beat on that house;
and it fell.
And great was its fall.”

Matthew 7:26-27

Sadly, it is herself who rules over her. The Word of God has no place in her life. And therefore, sooner or later, her house will fall.

Precious Sister in Christ, now, can you imagine the power we have? What will you choose today: to build or to break?

In Friday’s blog post, we will read a little more about a wise woman who feared the LORD, and how she compared to the foolish woman who used to be a queen in the king’s palace.

Build wisely, and build on the Rock today.
