The Reformed Kitchen — Part 1

Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ,
he is a new creation;
old things have passed away;
behold, all things have become new.

2. Corinthians 5:17

LORD Jesus we praise You for revelation, repentance, and reformation. As one pastor has said weeks ago: God is so holy, and only holy people can approach Him. We could not come near to God, nor even touch the mountain of God; but, if we would do so, we would all die. Yet, our great God has loved the world so much, that He has given His one and only Son to die for our sins (because we are not holy) — so that whoever believes in Him will not die but has everlasting life. Hallelujah! Christ Jesus, You have made the way for us to enter God’s Kingdom; You are the Way, the Truth, the Life. We can come to God the Father through You, be born again, find forgiveness, and one day enter His gates — the Gates of Heaven — with thanksgiving in our hearts. We praise You, LORD, God of Hosts. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

Have you ever gone through a time when your life has made just a wonderful turn… only to find out, at a later stage, that things are not really looking that well after all? What do you do then?

Our former landlords have put their house on the market last summer. It has sold after only two months. We had to move out as soon as possible to make way for the new owners. So in November we moved into the home we are living in right now. (Also see: The Journey and Its Destination)

Things were really looking so good: the house is not new and it has its flaws, but it is okay. We have already gone through the first winter in here and kept dry and warm — which is always a good sign in Ireland. The rent is decent, and the new landlord quite nice. So what could possibly go wrong?

Beginning of this year, things were no longer looking so good. Discontentment showed up. Compared to the former house our current one just would not turn into a “home” for us. Through the changes, meaning, while trying to fix and renew things, it seemed to become worse and worse.

What I needed at that stage was a true revelation and to repent of a few things, but more on that in my next post on Wednesday.

Are you in Christ? Then you are a new creation today.
