Are You a Member?

For we are members of His body, of His flesh and of His bones.

Ephesians 5:30

LORD Jesus we praise You for You are above all. You know us inside and out, for You have made us, saved us, and You are able to keep us on the right Path. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we are seeking advantages of life in this world while ignoring the advantage of being a member of the Body of Christ. Guide us and open our hearts, eyes, and ears to the Truth that will set us free. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

Good Friday is a good day to remind ourselves that this life will not last forever. One event, death, will happen to us all — for some of us sooner, for others later in life. Then what? What comes after the death of the body?

Good Friday is the day on which we remember Jesus’ Death on the Cross, but it is also a time for us to remember that He rose again. Hallelujah! He rose again that we may live — with Him forever. His Obedience made way for us to be able to enter into Heaven. The moment God calls us, and we become a member of His Body, things begin to change.

I just received vouchers of €10.50 worth to spend on my next grocery shopping. Receiving such coupons after you have spent a certain amount of money in the store is rewarding. It is good to be a member of the shop and to earn clubcard points with each payment at the checkout. Is it not?

With the membership other things will come along: we are like an open book to the store, well, at least the way we shop is. Now is that a good thing or not? I think as long as we do not dwell on the thought that we are being “watched” — about what type of products we get, how many of them, and the time we buy them — we are okay with it. It is to our advantage after all, is it not?

We are ignoring the fact that companies, governments, and other more or less powerful people, watch and rule over us and even control the way we shop. On the other side, at least at certain times, we do not feel that comfortable that God is in control of everything.

Are you a member of the Body of Christ today?
