It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep.
LORD Jesus we praise You for You are the God who creates and builds, who saves, who gives and takes away, and the One who keeps us on the right path that leads to everlasting Life with You. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we misunderstand and rebel against Your perfect Will. O, that You may give us ears to hear, eyes to see, and hearts that understand Your Word. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.
How often do we try so hard, and yet we still do not succeed? We seem to give our best, invest endless hours, get up earlier than we need to, stay awake longer than we should — all to find out that, in the end, we have failed.
In one of my posts from June last year I mentioned that “Unless the LORD” acts and helps, our work, yes, even our try to fix things, is in vain.
We do not like it whenever we feel helpless, do we? How about if somebody else gets the job done while we have tried so hard to complete it — perhaps even on our own? What if we have to admit that we are weak, but someone else is strong — stronger than us?
It is not only other people we are having a problem with whenever they are better than us, but we want to keep confidence in self at all times even before the LORD. Ouch!
Proverbs 3, verses 5-6, tell us to Trust in the LORD with all our heart, and not to lean unto our own understanding. We ought to acknowledge God in all our ways, and He will direct our paths — He will make things work out for good.
The LORD’s Wisdom and Might is far beyond our imagination. We are not talking about a mere man named Jesus who has walked the earth — It was Immanuel, meaning God with us, says the Bible. It was the One who created the heavens and the earth and everything in it. That’s who we are talking about and who we are supposed to put our trust — and our confidence — in. He is the One who created, who saved His People from the sins, and the One who is able to perform.
Let the LORD be your confidence. He will keep your foot from being caught today.
