Why do You show me iniquity,
And cause me to see trouble?
LORD Jesus we praise You that You are above all things. You are in control of each and every situation, and nothing takes You by surprise. Forgive us, O God we ask, whenever we doubt that everything lies in Your Hands. Enable us to believe that Your Word is true and to trust in Your Promises today. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
Why, God? Why?
Have you ever looked up toward heaven, asking God, “Why, God? Why is this happening?”
As I was reading through the Book of Habakkuk early this morning I was reminded that, no matter what we are facing these days, God promised us in His Word that He would be our Strength, our Shield, and the very present Help in times of trouble.
Habakkuk saw the burden of his day, and he cried to the LORD. “How long shall I cry? Will You not hear? Why do You show me all this and cause me to see this trouble? Why?”
Now Habakkuk’s situation might have not been like ours at all, however, we can learn much from reading through this short little book inside God’s precious Word.
How many times do we look up to ask the LORD “Why” such and such is happening to us and to other people? How often do we magnify the circumstances that surround us? And, again and again we are looking for some kind, any kind, of hope and change, that we would find it in the news or on the media platform/s of our day.
Do not, no longer, go down that road. Listen, there is no new thing under the sun (Ecclesiastes 1:9)! Walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Look away from temporary circumstances and to the One who is able to change everything in just a moment’s time.
Trust God unconditionally today.
