An Old iPod in the Bucket

And the people said to Joshua,
“The LORD our God we will serve,
and His voice we will obey!”

(Joshua 24:24)

LORD Jesus we praise You, our Lord GOD, the great Adonai Jehovah, the One who is mighty to save. Hallelujah! Forgive us, precious Jesus we pray, whenever we strive to become self-sufficient. Help us to see that nothing takes You by surprise and that everything is in Your Hands. Let us become more and more aware that we are all dependent upon You. Enable us to freely let go of things that we so eagerly cling unto. Set us free, O LORD, set us free; for if You will make us free, we shall be free indeed. In Jesus’ wonderful name we pray. Amen.

This is our first ever Apple device. It’s an iPod Touch 2nd Generation with an engraving on its back that says:

As for me and my house
We will serve the LORD.

(Taken from Joshua 24:15)

As the picture reveals, the iPod is quite old. Until recently, however, I was still able to use it. It would no longer do any software updates and refused to check my emails, but I kept using it as a media player to listen to my audio Bible. The iPod has served us well, and then it stopped, but I just could not let it go.

Due to our next move coming up in the more or less distant future, we are sorting through our belongings. One of the things I set aside to be thrown away was, you guessed it, the iPod. I took a few more pictures of it to keep and then it was destined to go into the garbage can. It got diverted, though, and somehow it ended up in the green bucket.

What’s the story about the bucket?

That will have to wait until Friday, when I’ll tell you more about it.

Serve the LORD your God, and obey His Voice today.
