For the husband is head of the wife,
as also Christ is head of the church;
and He is the Savior of the body.
LORD Jesus we praise You for You are the Head of the Church, the Body of Christ, Your People. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we are taking this relationship too lightly. Give us the wisdom and the power to understand the importance of it. Open our eyes to see Your Beauty and give us ears to hear Your Word. Guide our hearts to acknowledge You as the Head of the Church and also as the ultimate Power and Head in our Home. In Jesus’ wonderful name we pray. Amen.
In Monday’s post I emphasized that God must be the Builder of our Home. Unless the LORD builds the house, the Bible tells us, we who build it will labor in vain. And, unless He guards it, we will stay awake in vain.
One of the ways to guard our home is by watching over our marriage. Each part of it, the husband as well as the wife, plays an important role. The other and even more important way to guard our home is by letting the LORD have the final authority in it.
In this blog post, let’s ask ourselves: Why is the husband-wife relationship so important?
Listen to what F.B. Meyer comments on today’s verse:
“Our earthly relationships are similitudes and emblems of sacred realities, and the more we can import into the time sphere the inspiration and virtue of the eternal, the more transcendental and beautiful will they become.”
Verse 24 says that wives should submit in everything to their husband just as the church submits to Christ. Whenever others are watching us, the married couple, what do they see? A husband who loves his wife as Christ loves the church, and a wife who submits to her husband just as the church ought to submit to Christ?
Submit to your own husband as to the LORD today.
