Called to Be Different

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,
Nor stands in the path of sinners,
Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the LORD,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He shall be like a tree
Planted by the rivers of water,
That brings forth its fruit in its season,
Whose leaf also shall not wither;
And whatever he does shall prosper.
The ungodly are not so,
But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psalm 1:1-6

LORD Jesus we praise You for You are the Light of the world. You have called us out of the darkness and into the Light. Help us to follow You, so we will no longer walk in darkness but have the Light of Life. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

“You are so… different!”

Are we any different than worldly people? Why, or why not? If so, how, in what ways, do we make a difference, and for what reason is that so?

There are two days on which this psalm is on our Bible reading plan: On the first day of each year and on the first of each July when the second half of the year begins. So every six months we read about the difference of the way of the ungodly versus the way of the righteous, and we are reminded to avoid the wrong kind of counsel and to stay on the right path of life.

Of course we should be checking our life more than twice a year. Does it make any difference? Will people notice? What do they see when they are looking at our every-day-life?

Take time to meditate in God’s Word today.
