Anything But God’s Word?

Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem,
in the house of the LORD, before the new court, and said:
“O LORD God of our fathers,
are You not God in heaven,
and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations,
and in Your hand is there not power and might,
so that no one is able to withstand You?

2 Chronicles 20:5-6

LORD Jesus we praise You for You are the mighty and everlasting God. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we doubt that Your Promises are true. You promised us that You will never leave us nor forsake us and that You are with us even to the end of the age. Hallelujah! Enable us to believe, trust, and obey Your Word — in good times and in bad. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

There are times when our eyes stay so fixed on the huge mountain that is in front of us. All we can see is the big climb ahead and no rope to hold on to. The more we focus on the problem the heavier the burden on our back becomes.

Where is God in all of this? Does He remain in control — even during and over all that is going on in our life?

God is right here with us. His Word says that He will not leave us nor forsake us and that He is with us even to the end of the age. The question is: Do we believe so? Why, or why not?

During some situations in our life it might be easy for us to trust and obey His Word. In other circumstances, though, we might really struggle not to run to anything else but to God. Why is that so?

What is it that you are struggling with these days? Is it a negative result from the doctor’s office, an exam, an abusive relationship, some health issues, or financial problems, or anything else?

Draw near to God. Keep your eyes fixed on the Word of God today.
