Thus says the LORD:
Stand in the ways and see,
And ask for the old paths, where the good way is,
And walk in it;
Then you will find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.
LORD Jesus we praise You for You are LORD over all the earth. Help us to trust and obey what You are telling us in Your Word. Guide us in all our thoughts, our wishes, and the steps we are taking. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
In Monday’s post Hallelujah – We Are His I made reference to Psalm 100. I think the psalm speaks for itself and makes it clear that “We Are His.” In Wednesday’s post I have used Colossians 1:15-20 to explain in just a few verses who Jesus is. Today I want to challenge all of us to listen (more and more) to what the LORD says in His Word instead of following strange voices.
Whenever we are looking for good counsel we should not blindly accept the advice coming our way. We also need to know the source and foundation for it. There are many people in this world who will say that they know how things work and ought to be done. We have to ask ourselves, though: Is their wisdom rooted in the Word of God, or is it contrary to what the Bible says? Should we follow it?
Thus says the LORD
Stand in the ways and see
Let’s stop for a moment or two and be still and know that He is God, the Creator of the heaven and the earth, the One who is before and above all — the LORD of Hosts, God Almighty.
Ask for the old paths, where the good way is
Let’s take time to see and to ask and to read more about His Way because His Way is the good Way.
Walk in it
Let’s commit ourselves to not only hear what He has to say but to do what He commands us to do.
Find rest for your souls
Let us learn from the Master Himself, for He is gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls (Matthew 11:29)
Take time to meditate in His Word today.
