So Elisha said to her,
“What shall I do for you?
Tell me, what do you have in the house?”
And she said,
“Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”
2 Kings 4:2
LORD Jesus, we praise You for You are God Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, the Great I AM. Forgive us, O God we pray, that we so often fail to see Your Beauty, Your Power, and that You are above all. Help us, LORD Jesus, and guide us on the everlasting Way until we see You face to face. Enable us to seek You daily and to tell You: LORD, I need You! In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.
Just as the widow in the story of 2 Kings 4, we are also facing various trials throughout our life. Some of these struggles remind us that all things do not fall in place the way and in the timing we would like them to. What hardship/s are you going through? What can Jesus do for you?
Then, in the next chapter of 2 Kings, we are reading about a leper who was healed. His name was Naaman, and he had to get off his high horse first. He figured it all out how the healing would come about, so he became furious when Elisha told him otherwise. Naaman decided to disobey a simple command that Elisha had given him. It was not until he listened and obeyed that he was healed of leprosy. What has God put on your heart to do? Will you trust and obey Him and do as He has told you to?
There is this story of the floating iron, which we can find in the following chapter of 2 Kings, that reveals how everything came to a sudden halt due to a broken tool. The people could not continue their work until God, through Elisha, performed a miracle. When things seem lost where do you go for help?
Cry out and tell Christ the LORD that you need Him today.
