Restore Us

Restore us, O LORD God of hosts;
Cause Your face to shine,
And we shall be saved!

Psalm 80:19

LORD Jesus, we praise You for another beautiful day that You have made. Help us, O God we pray, to draw near to You. Do not let us despair. Prevent us from building our foundation, our hope, our future on the sand of this world. You came to this earth to live among us. You took all our sin, all our shame, all our anxiety, all sorrows, absolutely all to the Cross. Restore us, O God we pray. Cause Your face to shine, O God we plead. We shall be saved. Hallelujah! In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

Restore us, O God;
Cause Your face to shine,
And we shall be saved!

Psalm 80:3

Who would have thought that celebrating Christian holidays could be so… so different. First Easter and Christmas in 2020, and recently we more or less celebrated Easter again. We are already three months into this new year, and we do not know what lies ahead. 2020 has been a tough year on many of us. How much is 2021 going to continue in the same footsteps?

Who would have thought that going to work or on a vacation could be so difficult to accomplish. Our lives are restricted in nearly every possible way. And it is all due to a thing called Corona. This virus that has once been so far away had soon entered our own borders. No longer bound to one country, it tyrannizes the whole world by now.

Restore us, O God of hosts;
Cause Your face to shine,
And we shall be saved!

Psalm 80:7

Verses eight to eleven talk about a vine that has been brought out of Egypt. God drove out the nations and planted this vine. He prepared room for it, and He caused it to take deep root. “And it filled the land,” says verse nine. The vine mentioned here is Israel. God has brought them out of their bondage. They flourished in this new land, but this was all temporary.

God’s protection over Israel was gone, and her enemies had come in and taken over. And while reading this Psalm this morning I thought of how this whole pandemic is holding us in its grip. We are captives, in bondage in our own country.

But, listen! There is no reason to despair. Keep on reading because the story does not end there. There is Hope!

As Christians we know, and we need to remember, and we should encourage one another in this that: The true Vine had left His place in heaven to come down to this earth to visit His people. He lived and He died, and He rose again and is alive! Hallelujah!

Yes, another Good Friday has passed on which we remembered that Jesus died on the Cross. Yes, we also remembered that He was buried in the tomb. The good news is that He is risen indeed, which means, He defeated death! God is not dead! He is alive!

LORD Jesus, help us that we may not turn back from You. Revive us, and make us call upon Your name. Restore us, O LORD God of hosts, and cause Your face to shine, and we shall be saved. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen!

Know that your Savior lives today!
