These Words

If I would ask you, “Which are your favorite verses of God’s Word?” what would you say? Would you mention one or more passages of the Bible? Which one/s?

If you would ask me about my favorite verses in the Bible I would quote a few that I memorized over the years. If you would, however, wask me about my favorite verses in regard to homeschooling then I would mention the following ones:

Hear, O Israel:
The LORD our God,
the LORD is one!
You shall love the LORD your God
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
and with all your strength.
And these words
which I command you today
shall be in your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children,
and shall talk of them
when you sit in your house,
when you walk by the way,
when you lie down,
and when you rise up.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand,
and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

(Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

Why? They serve as key points for the homeschool family. To the newcomer they will serve as a way of introduction and for the one who is practicing homeschooling they will serve as a reminder to stay on target.

The pastors of our former online church used to quote them every single Sunday right before the start of the sermon. And these words, which we have heard over and over and over again, got stuck in our thoughts and began to sink into our hearts and minds. We could have never imagined, ever, to not hear them quoted in church on a Sunday.

Repetition was and still is the key to learning. You will read more on that important subject from time to time. So please stay tuned.
