Some trust in chariots,
and some in horses;
But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.
LORD Jesus, we praise You for You are mighty to save. You are the everlasting God. You are everywhere and in every time of history. Forgive us, O God we pray, that we so often neglect to look to You in our troubles. Enable us to seek You early and to study Your Word diligently. Help us so that we not only hear but also do what we are told by You. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.
In what or in whom do we trust? Who do we think is in charge? Where to or to whom do we turn when life is getting tough?
We so often forget that our God is in control and that nothing takes Him by surprise. Do we honestly think that the LORD — the One who has made the heavens and the earth and everything in it, the One who has left His throne to come down to earth to live among us and to die for us, the One who has risen from the dead and is alive today and forevermore — that He would not be able to take matters into His hands?
Do we believe that our God rules over nature, people, animals, and plants, but not over technology? Is that really a step taken too far — to trust that He is even the LORD over every single thing that men has ever invented and made?
My phone crashed last week. It would no longer receive incoming messages. I think it was no longer able to go online. Who knows? God does! Really? But if He knew, why would He not step in and make it work again?
Do we get upset whenever things do not go according to our plan? Or do we pause and ask God for help? Will we go in the way He leads us? Do we truly know and trust that He is God — above all powers, above all names, and above all situations?
Turn back to God and remember the One who is in charge.
