What a year 2020 has been! 2021 will have its challenges, too — for you, for us, for the whole world.
LORD Jesus, we praise You for You are the Creator of the heavens and the earth. You have made everything in it. You know everything that is going on these days. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we do not look up to You for answers. You are Elohim, the supreme One, the Beginning and the End. Enable us to keep focus on You, our God and our King, the One who came to save us from our sins. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.
When Lot was captured during a war Abram took his army and went out to rescue Lot. And Abram succeeded. Why? Listen to what the priest Melchizedek said to Abram in Genesis 14:19-20
Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth;
And blessed be God Most High,
Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.
We have to begin with God! When hardship strikes us we tend to seek advice from all kinds of things and people. If the trouble hits we also offer others our help. Of course there is nothing wrong with lovingly supporting each other and lending an helping hand to one another. The problem, however, starts when we put our trust and confidence in people and things and forget that “unless the LORD” works in our lives we will labor in vain.
F.B. Meyer writes:
All beginnings must begin with God. Always put God first. The first stone in every building, our first thought every morning, the first aim and purpose of all activity. Begin the book of the year with God, and you will end it with the glory of the New Jerusalem.
In 2021 focus to put God first in your life.
