Proverbs 31 Woman — Part 6

She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.

Proverbs 31:15

LORD Jesus, we praise You for You have made us in Your perfect timing. Forgive us, we pray, whenever we want things to happen according to our own schedule. Enable us to use the time we have wisely and for the advance of Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

In today’s world what is “yet night” for one person might be “still day” for another. Think of many people are on night duty these days. Or, how early some workers have to start their day now. So, let’s not judge a sister because we think she should be getting up at this or that hour. Each one of us has her own family to look after — according to her family’s needs and schedule.

Keeping that in mind, let’s study today’s portion of Scripture.

READ — Read the verse again:

She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.

ENGAGE — Think: What does the verse say? (Copy/Paste)

When does the virtuous woman rise?
_____ _____ _____ _____ _____

What does she provide for her household?
_____

What does she provide for her maidservants?
_____ _____ (of it)

According to this verse the virtuous woman rises while it is yet night. In other words, she rises early enough to provide food and look after her household.

APPLY — Think: How does this apply for your own household?

What are some of the things in the mornings that need to be done in your own household? Do you need to prepare lunch to go for your husband and/or have school lunch boxes ready to go for your child/ren? What needs to be taken care of in advance and during the evening for the next morning?

DO — Think: How can you make this happen?

For things to happen smoothly during the morning hours getting up “in time” is the key. Some of us are not able to get out of bed in time because we stay up too long. Do you need to go to be at an earlier hour?

Others may get up at 5am each morning but still not having things ready for the day by 8am. How come? Perhaps we will need to adjust and change a few habits? Could you prepare some things ahead of time during the evening hours?

Remember to rise before and look after your household.
