Proverbs 31 Woman — Part 3

She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.

(Proverbs 31:12)

LORD Jesus, we praise You for You created us. You know all things, and You are the One who is above all things. Forgive us, O God we pray, whenever we are going our own way and fail to seek counsel in Your Word. We know that Your Way, Your Will, and Your Purpose are perfect. Enable us to see what it is that You would want us to do. Let us grow strong in our faith, in our marriage, and bless our family. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

Verse 10 does not ask if such a virtuous woman who is priceless can even be found, but rather who can find her. The next verse talks about her husband’s heart safely trusting her, and that he will have no lack of gain. This is the third verse describing the marriage of the virtuous woman and her husband.

READ — Let’s read today’s verse again:

She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.

ENGAGE — Think: What does the verse say? (Copy/Paste)

What does she do her husband?

What does she not do to her husband?

When is this happening?
_____ _____ _____ _____ _____ _____

APPLY — Think: Is this true in your own marriage?

Is your first thought for your husband and how you can help, encourage, and love him? Do you make it your business to constantly care for him, as Matthew Henry writes:

… to provide what is fit for him both in health and sickness, and attending him with diligence and tenderness when any thing ails him?

All the days of your life?

DO — Think: What (more) can you do to make things happen?

F.B. Meyer writes that

It is in the home-place that the man’s strength is gathered for public life.

In what ways can you strengthen your man? How can you boost his confidence? Is there something you could do to inspire him to apply for that job and/or get that promotion, to study the Word of God, to pray with his family? Do you need to set (your) self aside and cooperate in a specific matter to see him succeed — so that he is more confident the next time he has to handle this issue?

Reach out to your husband and do him good today.
