Two Are Better Than One

And the LORD God said, “It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.”

Genesis 2:18

LORD Jesus, we praise You for You know what we are in need of. Help us, O God we pray, while we are facing these troublesome times. We ask for Your Peace so we can continue to fulfill our purpose. Help us to stay patient and to endure knowing that You remain in control no matter what. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

Woman was created for man. she was made to be a helper comparable to him. There is nothing in God’s Word that would make her of “less value” as some people may think; but let’s keep that discussion for another day.

God said that it is not good for man to be alone. Genesis 2:18 talks about the man who is in need of a woman and Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says that two are better than one. If one falls the other can lift up his companion. Also, if the two lie down, they will keep warm.

Matthew Henry explains that it wasn’t so much for the man’s comfort but because man is a social creature:

It is a pleasure to him [man] to exchange knowledge and affection with those of his own kind, to inform and to be informed, to love and to be beloved.

We so often belittle the important role we have been given by God. Yes, we add to the comfort of our man — by baking and cooking, cleaning, ironing, and all the other things we are doing for him. How often, though, are we thinking of making him feel “at home” where his heart can safely trust the woman God gave him?

Do your husband good and not evil today.
