Are You Listening

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one!
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.

Deuteronomy 6:4-6

How is your hearing?

Mine is not that great at the moment. The trouble started a short while back and last Sunday has been one of the worst days so far.

I walked into church and was thrilled seeing people and getting to talk to some of them. While somebody was talking to me, in the middle of her sentence, my hearing dropped tremendously. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to understand most of what the men were about to share. Then, as the first man opened up the service I knew.

The preacher who stepped up to the pulpit is one who speaks loud and clear. However, during a time of having to keep a greater distance and the wearing of masks, I couldn’t hear much of what he has said. That was quite frustrating.

The hearing of God’s Word is crucial, as Romans 10:14 says:

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?

You see, Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, Romans 10 continues in verse 17.

Faith and hope are so important especially during a time of having to keep distance, living more or less contact-less, and limits of making joyful noise.

Just as this time with all its trouble so will my bad hearing eventually come to an end, “But the Word of the LORD endures forever,” says 1 Peter 1:25

So, how is your hearing?

Open your Bible today. God is speaking. Listen well.
