Do Not Be Afraid

In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence,
And His children will have a place of refuge.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death.

Proverbs 14:26-27

LORD Jesus, we praise You for You have made us and by Your name we are saved. You are the One who is able to heal us and delivers us. Enable us, O God we pray, to keep our focus on You — the One who is above all. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray. Amen.

What do you fear?

Is there something and/or someone in your life that you fear? Some of us are scared whenever it is dark, worried over an upcoming test, or afraid of someone who seems a lot stronger than we are. What or who is it that you are terrified of?

Why do you fear?

Have you ever asked yourself about the reason for your fear? What will trigger your nervousness? How come that you will panic in certain situations while you remain calm in others? How is it that you are in distress over being with certain people in your life?

We begin to fear things and people as soon as we (want to) make ourselves independent from God. Ouch! That’s the truth, I’m afraid.

How can you overcome your fear?

Do you ever wish that, facing this or that, you would be bold enough to speak up? What’s the secret to boost confidence during times of doubt and trouble?

So, how can we overcome our fear? We need to see situations, things, people as what they are: UNDER God. On the other side, and more importantly, we need to see God for who He is: ABOVE ALL — above all situations, above all things, above all people.

With that in mind, let’s read the two verses found in Proverbs 14 again:

In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence,
And His children will have a place of refuge.
The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life,
To turn one away from the snares of death.

Where or with whom is your confidence today?
