A New Appliance

Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.

Proverbs 3:5-6

LORD Jesus, we praise You for You provide so richly for us each and every day. Forgive us whenever we are discontent. Guide us to do all things as unto You and according to Your perfect will. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

Last week I’ve introduced you to slow cooking. If you don’t have one yet, are you ready to buy one? Which one?

I’m usually quite tense while researching a new gadget or appliance for my home or work. So many questions to consider! How about you?

Following is a list with questions you might want to think about before making a purchase.

Do I need a/this new appliance? What should I consider before spending our money on it? Where will I find the perfect one? Is it wise to wait, or should I go ahead and buy one that is within our budget?

Do I need this appliance? It’s hard to wait if we really want to have a particular item, isn’t it? Ouch… So the question is: Do I need this product or is it rather an extra I want to buy?

What are some of the features I should consider before spending our money on this product? Does it have to be this size, color, make, etc., or would another one, perhaps a cheaper model, suit us as well?

Where will I find the perfect one? Hm… often enough I do not find one that ticks all the boxes. There is usually always something I have to comprise.

I guess the hardest question is: Is it wise to wait? Often enough it is better to bring your request before God in prayer. Perhaps He wants you to wait for another deal — an upcoming sale? Or does He have a used one that is in good condition arriving soon at your house? Maybe His plan is to bless you with a more expensive product, but you would have to wait on it a little longer?

Stop. Pray. Wait. Consider His counsel before you buy.
