Faith Moving Forward

You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;
but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.

2 Peter 3:17-18

LORD Jesus, we praise You for guiding us over the past couple of weeks of lockdown. We are glad that the restrictions are being eased now. Guide us, O LORD, in Your Wisdom in the days and weeks ahead of us. Enable us to stay close to You that we may continue to seek You day by day. Help us that we neither take it for granted nor too lightly that we are able to own a Word of God. Let us read our Bibles daily, help us to pray, and continue to bless our ability to come before You in worship and in praise. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen.

“We have to learn to suffer well.” That’s what one of our elders said during one of our Bible studies. Um, I don’t want to admit it, but he is right.

Looking back at my past troublesome times I find that these tests have become more and more intense over the years. Each time, while going through the individual trial, I suffered greatly. I always thought that there couldn’t be anything worse coming up than that which I was going through at that time.

Looking back I also noticed that the greater the trial was the stronger I have grown in faith in the LORD Jesus. That didn’t happen, though, until “self” was moved out of the way.

Each time that I had really come to the end of my rope I had to let go of self. Whenever I kept on holding tight to my own way I struggled more and the pain and sorrow became unbearable. It wasn’t until I completely turned around and ran, as fast as I could, just like a little child, into the everlasting Arms of my Savior. That was the turning point for Faith Moving Forward.

I’m still so far away from suffering well. How about you, dear sister? In a time of trouble are you able to just let go of “self” and become weak and let Christ Jesus be your Strength?

Is God your Refuge and Strength? He is a very present Help in trouble. Seek Him today.
