Turning vs Restoring

Restore us, O LORD God of hosts;
Cause Your Face to shine,
And we shall be saved!

Psalm 80:19 (NKJV)

I usually quote from the NKJV but this is one of the times when I prefer the KJV — hence, I quoted from the KJV in the earlier post.

Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts,
cause thy face to shine;
and we shall be saved.

Psalm 80:19 (KJV)

Turn us again — I find this slightly more powerful than restore us again. How come?

Of course, I’m longing to wake up knowing this madness is over with. I’m afraid, though, that many of us might slip back into the old ways: It’s all restored to the point where we soon will take things and blessings for granted again.

Do we want a “quick fix” so we can go on with our own life, or do we want healing and therefore seek God’s everlasting way? Let’s read/pray two verses found in Psalm 139

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.
