Magnify the LORD Our God

Turn us again, O God,
and cause thy face to shine;
and we shall be saved.

Psalm 80:3

Reading Psalm 80 this morning I made a note that verses 3, 7, and 19 are very similar. I know that it’s always good to pay even more attention whenever God repeats words or phrases.

Let’s read verse 7 and notice the difference:

Turn us again, O God of hosts,
and cause thy face to shine;
and we shall be saved.

The title for God rised to God of hosts. Now watch how it rises even further in verse 19:

Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts,
and cause thy face to shine;
and we shall be saved.

Whenever we sit down to read the Bible just to “check the box” in our reading plan we are often missing out on things like these. The repetition given in this psalm calls us to pay close/r attention. It encourages us to realize that God is not just a god. He is the God of hosts! But not only that —  Our God is the LORD God of hosts!

Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.

Psalm 34:3
