Be Of Good Courage

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

Joshua 1:9

Love the LORD with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. Do you love Him?

God’s Word tells us that if we love Him we will keep His commandments. If we don’t do as He says, the truth is not in us. 1 John 2 explains:

4 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him.
5 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.

How can we keep something we don’t know much about? We ought to abide in the LORD and walk the way He walked. But how? Can we follow a person we are not familiar with — Someone we don’t know that well?

The LORD told Joshua not to let this book (of the law) depart out of his mouth. Beside talking about the Book, and to get familiar with it, Joshua mediated on it day and night, and then observed it to do as God says.

Precious sisters in Christ, we have to read His Word! We have to keep our noses in our Bible to get to know Him, His Way, more and more.

Now let’s read Joshua 1:9 again and note what the second part of the verse says:

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.

This is what we need to remember while going through these troubling days: the LORD does not leave us nor forsake us. He is with us wherever we may go. How do we know?

HE has spoken to Moses and others — read it in His Word!
HE has spoken to us by His Son — read it in His Word!
HE will teach us all things — read it in His Word!

Be strong and of good courage. God is with you!
