Fear Not

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.

These words, found in Isaiah 43:1, have become so precious to me over the last few weeks. Oh that you may cling to the promises of God as well! That’s my prayer.

It is so easy these days to fall into the trap of fear, isn’t it? We are afraid of the current situation — the virus and its consequences. Whenever we tune into a TV or radio station there are more scary news published. Where is our help?

You might ask, “How could I not have fear during this present age?” Let me share some thoughts with you how to combat fear right now.

What do you focus on?

Don’t constantly focus on what is happening all around you. Instead, focus on God — at least most of the time!

Know that the LORD, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Psalm 100:3

When — during what times — is your faith shaken?

Notice the change after you have watched the news? Does fear kick in? Limit your news time. Therefore, turn off the TV and the radio most of the day. Don’t continually feed on the latest posts found on social media. If you keep the internet on use it for good, e.g. to listen to a Christian radio station or to do an online Bible study.

Where do you seek help?

Precious sister in Christ, ask yourself from where your help comes from. It comes from the LORD, the One who made heaven and earth, your Creator — He is your keeper! He who keeps you will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD will preserve your soul.

Now, precious sister — Know I’m very much preaching to myself, here. I’m calm and have this amazing sense of Peace coming from the LORD Jesus. But after the 30 minutes news per day I’m in a different kind of state. I keep a greater social media distance and instead draw nearer to God.

2 Timothy tells us that

16  All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
17  that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Seek His Presence. Praise Him. Talk to Him today. Consider His work.
