2 Chronicles 7
13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people,
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
When times are tough and uncertain we often fall into the trap of questioning God — at least to some extend. We doubt, fear, and want to gain (back) control over our lives. What we see and focus on are the problems. We fear that we are not in a position of controlling the circumstance and that we cannot solve things the way we would like them to be dealt with.
During these times, more than ever, we need to remember that God is the One who has made us; we are His people, and we are called by His name. What an amazing thought that is! This alone should make us humble and drive us to our knees.
True, to humble ourselves before God will cost us our pride and denial of self.
I’m struggling a bit more at the moment with doubt, fear, and living life step by step. I doubt God has really given me a certain gift, I fear that I’m not using it correctly, and I’m desperate to have control over the outcome. But, guess what? These doubts and fears weaken my testimony and cripple my faith in what the LORD can do through me — if I will humble myself and truly dedicate this gift that He has given to me and use it for His glory only!
Helpless? Now is definitely a time to pray — often and everywhere! Prayer is powerful! Prayer changes people’s focus.
I told God that I could never, ever pray for this person or that situation. Well, forgiveness and healing didn’t happen until the day I started praying for the one who has hurt me the most. Then things began to change dramatically. A big heavy burden was lifted off my back and I was able to hand it all over to the LORD. I was able to trust that He is on the throne and in control — no matter what!
Seek the LORD
When we seek the LORD we are seeking His presence and, as a result of this, His will. This can hurt, of course. That’s a time when our dark sides — our own sins and wickedness — are being exposed. Praise God there is hope! He is Life and He is Light. His Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness cannot comprehend it. (John 1:5)
Do we love the Light of the world?
