Older women teaching the younger women.
In Titus 2:3-5 the Bible (NKJV) talks about the older women being teachers of good things, in particular:
that they admonish the young women
to love their husbands,
to love their children,
to be discreet,
obedient to their own husbands,
that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
19. December 2019 marked the 8th anniversary of my mom’s death. I have to admit that we didn’t have the best mother-daughter relationship. We were both raised in traditional but not Bible-believing Christian homes. “Pick and choose the parts you would like to believe of God’s Word” was quite common in our home.
Study God’s Word together.
It is so important to daily read and study His Word. Some of you come from a Christian home. Therefore you might know this already. Others start completely from scratch and don’t know yet.
The Bible is very clear that:
ALL Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
(2 Tim. 2:16-17 NKJV — emphasis mine)
Yes, the Word of God is still relevant today. The Bible is the best manual for everyday living. We will find advice on womanhood, marriage, child-training and so much more in it.
“Walk the walk” — so that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
When Gentiles, also known as unbelievers, are watching us what will they see? Are we only talking the talk? Will they doubt God is for real when they are watching how we are living? Does our walk agree with our talk? Do we teach others but refuse to teach ourselves? Are we growing and showing that Jesus is LORD over our lives?
How will the girls and young women know if they are going in the right direction? Our daughters need guidance in making their decisions. If we are not there to help them they will seek help somewhere else. The world will more than miss the mark in teaching our young women true love, hope, and faith. A worldly society pushes our daughters on to an ungodly path. It will bail out, however, when things get tough and then advice them to take extreme actions.
Psalm 145:4 says that one generation shall praise to the next what God has done. We shall share with others how God works in our lives.
Let’s get busy! Study, teach, work, and share good things!
